5,000-piece campaign
Wheatpasted in Lower Manhattan,
New York City
June 1998

Combining the earnest tone and formal elements of 1940’s war effort posters with the opportunistic use of patriotism, this campaign urges gay consumers to resist targeting by savvy, “gay-friendly” marketers. The project also positions the butch lesbian as an embodiment of the truly revolutionary American spirit.
